Stairs Measurement

Task

Stairs be can geometrically complex objects. Curves and many angles and distances are hard to measure using traditional methods like a measuring tape.

Procedure

Using specialized markers the corners of the steps are defined. A couple of dozen photos in rapid succession are the basis for the fully automatic computation of the stairs geometry.

Result

Within a few minutes and only minimal user interaction a complete 3D representation of the stairs is available, e.g., for rebuilding the stairs or fitting a stairs lift.
